Belfast Itinerary: How to Spend 1, 2 or 3 Days
Belfast rewards a proper plan. With the Titanic story, a world-famous coastline and a compact, story-rich city centre all within reach, a little structure helps you see the best of it without wasting time. Here are ready-made itineraries for one, two or three days — pick the one that fits your trip and adjust to taste.
Short on time
One day in Belfast
Focus on the city itself and its signature attraction.
Morning — get your bearings
Start with a hop-on hop-off bus tour. One loop gives you the whole city with commentary — City Hall, the Cathedral Quarter, the Peace Walls, the Titanic Quarter — and helps you decide where to spend more time. See our hop-on hop-off bus tour guide.
Midday — Titanic Belfast
Hop off at the Titanic Quarter and spend two to two and a half hours at the world's largest Titanic experience, built on the very slipway where the ship was launched. Add the SS Nomadic next door — it's already included in your ticket.
Afternoon — the Peace Walls
Ride back across the city and take in the Falls Road and Shankill Road murals — the most moving part of any Belfast visit.
Evening — the Cathedral Quarter
Finish with dinner and traditional music in Belfast's atmospheric cultural heart.
The sweet spot
Two days in Belfast
Keep day one in the city and give day two to the coast.
-
Day 1 — the city
Follow the one-day plan above: hop-on hop-off bus tour, Titanic Belfast, the Peace Walls, and an evening in the Cathedral Quarter.
-
Day 2 — the Giant's Causeway & Antrim Coast
Take a full-day tour up the coast. A good one bundles the Giant's Causeway — Northern Ireland's only UNESCO World Heritage Site — with the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, the Game of Thrones Dark Hedges, and the clifftop ruin of Dunluce Castle. You'll be back in Belfast for the evening. See our Giant's Causeway tour guide for the full route, or our half-day vs full-day comparison if your second day is short on time.
Three days in Belfast
A third day lets you slow down and go deeper. Follow the two-day plan above, then mix and match on Day 3 from:
- Crumlin Road Gaol — a tour of the preserved Victorian prison.
- A dedicated Troubles or political walking tour for a deeper understanding of the Peace Walls.
- Queen's Quarter and the Botanic Gardens — the elegant, green south of the city.
- A whiskey experience or a leisurely return to the Titanic Quarter slipways.
- A day trip further afield, such as the walled city of Derry~Londonderry or the Mourne Mountains.

Tips for planning your Belfast trip
- Book the big attractions ahead. Titanic Belfast uses timed entry and sells out at peak times; Causeway tours fill up in summer. See our Titanic Belfast tickets guide for prices and discounts.
- Use the hop-on hop-off bus as your backbone. It links the main sights and saves your legs.
- Give the Causeway a full day if you can — the coast between the stops is as beautiful as the stops themselves.
- Layer up. Belfast and the north coast have changeable weather all year — a waterproof is never wasted.
- Combine tickets where you can. Bus-plus-attraction bundles usually beat buying separately.
How many days do you need in Belfast?
- One day: enough for the city highlights and Titanic Belfast.
- Two days: the sweet spot — city plus the Giant's Causeway.
- Three days: relaxed, with room for history, culture and a further-afield day trip.
